Orlando con mi familia!

I'm in Orlando Florida with my lovely family. At first, I was less than thrilled about this vacation, but grandma is getting old. Who knows if she'll have another vacation with us? Who knows if I'll have another vacation with my family, or just about any of us? Momma would be proud of us I guess and if she'd be proud, then it's right. Family time is crucial, no matter how annoying they can get. You have to bite the bullet for the ones you love... and dislike. Day by day stuck in this villa going to these parks, everyone is bitching and moaning; I'm searching for a damn noose, but I know I'll look back and laugh with nostalgia. If you're not a Stepford family, you're suppose to be stressed together, you're suppose to argue together together, and ultimately stick together... that old bull sh*t. Clićhe, but da truth.

It was like nothing I’ve ever felt when I met this man. Being with him is like a Summertime in Orlando, a Christmastime when mom’s money was right, a barbecued Forth of July holiday complete with gargantuan, soft white glowing pom pom shaped fireworks bursting within my soul; my heart busting at the seams; it’s never grown so big.

He started giving me silly guitar lessons, a buffer for our budding romance. I fed him chinese food the second date; the third, I meekly kissed his gorgeous mouth. He asked for the kiss, and I couldn’t help myself. It was that smile. He naturally posses the grin of a mischievous child, always on the prowl for exhilaration and for the most simplistic of life’s pleasures to be expanded to significance. To maximize joy to it's utmost value, a hedonist in a way.

Playing Checkers, one of the many games we play

It’s a joke to me, the fact that I thought I knew what love was, what it felt like, what it even looked liked. But I knew the truth at first glance. It shined so brightly in the form of pale peachy skin, dirty blonde hair, big blue eyes and a smile so charismatic and endearing I honestly didn’t know what to do with myself but squeak out my name when it was asked. Being in a relationship on crutches when I met him, I knew that his smile proposed a threat to everything I struggled to build with my ex boyfriend. I had to make myself scarce, run away!  If what I felt when I was around him authentic and consistent, I was fucked. But it is what is is. What's meant to be is meant to be, and it's foolish to deny yourself of what you truly desire. No use in fighting gravity, trying to fly away forever. What comes up, must come down. Simple physics.
We met through a chancy, mutual friend type of situation, a sort of unavoidable double date set up. My girlfriend’s boyfriend and him were roommates and friends. A set up too perfect that gods must have matched us. A match made in heaven.
The first time I locked eyes with him I knew this was something else. His energy was broad, almost a spectacle of a person. He looked at me as if he wanted me to challenge him, almost absorbing my eccentricities, accepting it unjudging; even offering me his own quirks. I tested him, wondering if he’d be freaked out by my freaky nature. Turns out he’s nut himself.  I feel like I’ve met my match. Sometimes I feel like he’s better than I, he’s much more responsible than I, after all he is a few years older than I. I look up to him, he’s my role model. I'm a better woman now. I've never been so inspired.

We have this idea, I am the moon, and he is the sun. And our earth is non existent without either.
I’ve never felt something like this. It's been merely 6 months since our rocket launched, and I hope we see many galaxies together. Maybe it’s magic? Maybe it’s love? Life happens; what'll happen next?

4th of July with Fringe Benefits

Independance
The pops of Turquoise just really sets of this vivid outfit. My boyfriend surprised me with the lovely necklace one evening, the exact day I bought the shoes. We are so in-sync, I freaking love it. There's nothing like a man who appreciates fashion like I do. I also cut up this T shirt all by myself, saving the cash, and a new amazing shirt. I'm loving the fringe trend!

FRANCE! A preview of my adventures

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

I went to the South of France last week and this is my favorite photograph from my adventure. I did not go a day without my signature Summer look: Vivid Red Lips.
I don't have time for a full summary of what happened in France, but let's just say it was pure magic. Europe is always good to me.

Something about a girl in RED

American Apparel

The color red is so sexy, I never realized it. I remember in AP literature, we learned that red often represent fertilization, passion, sexuality or even danger. I guess that's why the boys wouldn't stop eyeballing homegirl.  It is such a color of intense emotion. Paired with a something white makes it pop even more! And then the white's contrast with my cocoa brown skin, HOT DAMN, things are so freaking aesthetic.

Foot Massage Please!

Resting my feet on Fulton Street

I mean, I'm totally not Gothic, or worship Satan; none of that craziness, but I just loved this outfit!
I bought these Creeper months ago from Urban online, and they were too bloody small! My feet fit into them, but my little baby toes were scrunched up, crying for freedom! But I am tenacious little sucker, so I actually went to my classes in them.
Let's just say, I didn't come back from my classes.
Goodness, I  had to make a pit stop at the library because the shoes were causing fiery havoc in my Achilles tendons and  big toe! I remained at the library for 4 hours. Then I crawled back to my dormitory. After clawing them off, I found terrible blisters on the backs of my ankles. Then I chucked them to the back of my closet where they gathered dust.
Until I took them to a shoe repair man in Williamsburg where he stretched them bad boys out! BOO YAH! I can kind of wear them! I mean, they aren't walking the length of Manhattan shoes, but I can rock them decently. Mama always said to me as she raked through my afro puffs as a child: Pain is Beauty.... and ain't that the truth!

Know Yourself

Well, Freshman year of college is over, thank the lord. Being away from NYC wasn't necessarily my cup of tea, but I endured nevertheless, The time away had it's highs and Lows.
Highs
Freedom: I've been immersed in the complete feeling of freedom, independence and personal discretion. I've always been a free little birdie, so the feeling wasn't so foreign... yet this was practically full independence, and in that I learned what I really wanted. When you are dictated, not only do you give up your freedom, but you mind's ability to expand on what you want. I essentially learned who I was in a way I've never known. I got to know Jade on a  new spectrum and that was just fabulous.

Love: Yes, I ended my year and five month relationship with my boyfriend, but when god closes one door, somewhere, another window opens, and goodness gracious, the sun shined through that window like I've never seen!
We met by chance, and it was like ZAP! My world is topsy turvy! But that's another story in itself. But if there's one thing one should know is I've never felt anything like this. This man is something else. He is the childhood best friend I've never had and always desired. I finally have someone to play with and there's nothing like the feeling of love, happiness and nostalgia all wrapped together.

Lows

Grief: My mother passed away January 9th 2010, only two years ago. After she died, my life was bananas!
I had to move back to Brooklyn from my simple suburban Long Island life, changing my life completely and for senior year of High School. Then I had to prepare for college which was stress city! Goodnes gracious, I couldn't even sit down for tea with myself! So when 1st semester began away, and I sat alone in my dormitory with my thoughts finally, it all got to me, like Mother's death was at new thing for me! I didn't know what was wrong with me, but it was terrible. I never knew what an emotion head case I could be when I have the time to be!

Whatever went down my freshman year of college, good or bad, I'm happy it happened. Everything is a new test, a challenge for me to endure, a new lesson to learn. I won't be returning to University of Hartford, which is fine, except that takes me away from him, another bloody obstacle. Fuck.
But regardless, I just think it's grand to be alive, healthy, and possibly... in love.
